Things To Do

Blackwell Hotel's location is ideal for getting out and being active in the Coeur d’Alene and surrounding area.

While staying in Coeur d'Alene, the showcase attraction without a doubt is the  access to the unparalleled shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. For a local feel, walk downtown on Sherman Avenue and enjoy the shops, art galleries (especially Blackwell Gallery), boutique clothing stores, innovative toy stores and wonderful fare at a variety of restaurants.

When you are looking to get exercise via walking, running or biking, there are trails everywhere looking for your exploration. Tubbs Hill is walking blocks away from the hotel offering a beautiful 3-mile hike around a peninsula on the Northern shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene. The scenic beauty of the lake on this hike cannot be missed and it's national recognizition is justified.

For the cycling enthusiasts, walk out our back door and immmediately find yourself on The Centennial Trail. This is a 60-mile stretch of bike paths starting at the Northeast tip of Lake Coeur d’Alene and ends on the outskirts of Spokane, WA. The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes bike path follows the Union Pacific Railroad right-of-way from Mullan, near the Montana border, to Plummer, near the Washington border. Short drives make scenic and easy access points to the multiple different trailheads expanding over this 70 + mile paved trail system.

Lake life is not only for the boat owners or locals! The city has incredible business rentals for kayaks, paddleboards, paddle boats, jet skis and motor boats. For a sense of adventure take a sky-high lake tour in a parasol or seaplane. Coeur d’Alene City Beach is an easy access for those wanting to take a dip or simply gaze out onto our beautiful glacier lake! Inquire about ROW Adventures, a local outdoor outfitter, to take advantage of guided fishing trips or kayak and whitewater day trips.

Don’t be shy snowbunnies, because in the winter within a 50 mile radius there are four ski resorts! Schweitzer Mountain, Silver Mountain, Lookout Pass, and Spokane Mountain offer a variety of mountain terrains for all levels. Blackwell Hotel allows for winter adventurers a central location for evening plans and day trips to each of the ski resorts!

If you are interested in any other outdoor adventures or places to explore, please ask the Blackwell Staff! Each staff member has their own secret places and spaces of adventure for this vast Panhandle state.
